Tokyo, September 24, 2021 - Industrial hoist and crane maker Kito Corporation (head office: Yamanashi; president: Yoshio Kito) announces that the exceptional ESG-focused management of Kito has been awarded “A” rating by Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting, supported by the Japan Credit Agency.
The 'A' rating is based on the consulting firm's original criteria for evaluating corporate management effort in terms of the environment, social issues and governance (ESG). In the latest evaluation Kito received high marks for its initiatives summarized below.
Environment
A plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle is effectively running under the Kito environmental management system in compliance with the ISO 14001 standard to achieve medium- and long-term goals to reduce environmental impact (energy consumption, CO2 emissions, VOC uses and the like). The firm is conducting joint effort with its business partners to comply with its own Green Purchasing Guidelines and reduce environmental impact.
Social Issues
Under its policy to protect human rights, the firm is working actively to achieve quantitative goals for employment, workplace safety and hygiene, and other workplace factors. It regularly holds training sessions in Japan and abroad to teach safe operation of its products.
Governance
From the top executive on down the firm manages risk across the board and strictly complies with the law based on its own compliance manual.
